When finished, these are typically much stronger than when they came off of the production lines many decades ago.

I can work with you directly to build what you wish, or to discuss how to help you envision what you want.
I build many one of a kind creations, as well as repetitive models with options.
I can build models to be played with washboard gloves and brushes, or brushes only. Gloves and brushes dramatically change your sound.
I can also build plug and play models that allow you to plug into your bands PA system.
A lap or stand musical washboard is not wearable.
They usually require you to play in a sitting position.
A snare drum stand often works well for this.
A wearable musical washboard allows the freedom to move around stage, reduce the amount of gear, can be built with pickups installed and can also be played sitting down.
The small washboard, such as a Zinc King Lingerie model, will typically have a more subtle texture. These are the smaller washboards and work well with gloves, nylon or metal brushes. Washboard brushes allow you to sound great for songs that require a softer approach.
A large washboard will have a more detailed, aggressive surface. They are slightly louder by nature and sound different due to the detailed texturing on the metal surface. I would recommend gloves or nylon brushes if you have a pickup installed.
This video explains what to use to play a washboard, how to play a washboard instrument, how they sound and sizes of washboards.
